Amalfi Coast • Gay Friendly Tour (Half Day)
(Positano - Amalfi)
Be ready to enjoy a special tour of Amalfi Coast. Meet the LGBT Friendly Tour Guide in Positano which is a unique place in the world! It is a jewel of spontaneous architecture, set on the rock overlooking the sea. Clusters of colorful houses are built on often very steep steps, which descend to the beach, connected by alleys and long stairways. Reaching Positano along the coastal road, or disembarking from the sea is truly a unique experience that fills the eyes and soul with beauty! It is no coincidence that it is from the sea, that around the first century. d. C. the Romans arrived first, intent on building a maritime villa in Positano 'for the exercise of their refined leisure'. The Positano villa would have belonged to Posides Claudi Cesaris, freedman of the emperor Claudius, hence the name of Posidianum extended from the villa to the entire place. Another villa was built on one of the Li Galli Islands, off the Grande beach; according to the Homeric tale they were inhabited by the sirens Ligea, Leucosia and Partenope, and perhaps for this reason first Leonide Massine and then Rudolph Nureyev (both gay), famous Russian choreographers and dancers, lived there in the last century. But there are still many artists, writers and personalities from the world of cinema, who have lived for a long time in Positano: Walter Benjamin, Stefan Andres, John Steinbeck, Irene Kowaliska, Igor Stravinsky, Franco Zeffirelli (gay), to name but a few, they could not resist the charm of that "wild" fishing village, which has become one of the most popular socialites in Italy. Admire the Church of S. Maria Assunta, the Villa Sersale, the Palazzo Murat and other particular eighteenth-century villas are worthy of note, transformed into luxury hotels, but which retain their ancient charm intact. Free time for shopping and you can have aperitif in La Brezza (gay friendly place). Boarding by ferry to reach Amalfi. The coast seen from the sea is truly enchanting. Along the way, among other things, admire the villa of director Zeffirelli, Jacqueline Kennedy's favorite beach, and then the villa of Sofia Loren. Once in Amalfi, a walk from Piazza Flavio Gioia, with the Arsenale della Repubblica, and following the promenade and then the characteristic alleys of the historic center, will take us to the monumental heart of the city, with a guided tour of the Cloister of Paradise-Diocesan Museum-Crypt and the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea. Here you can find the two hotel-convent which, since the end of the eighteenth century, hosted numerous grand tour travelers including Hans Christian Andersen, von Platen (LBGT characters), perhaps Goethe and many others. Continue along the main street among colorful shops of typical products, with tasting of a good locally produced limoncello.
