The Argentina Homosexual Community, the country's first gay rights organization, was created in 1984. LGBT rights in Argentina are the most advanced in Latin America. Homosexuality has been legal in Argentina since 1853, and gay marriage since 2010. Although there isn't a proper “Gay Area” in Buenos Aires, there's definitely a scene in the Palermo/Villa Crespo area and in San Telmo, where lots of queer artivism happens daily.
